JOnAS

Java EE 6 Web Profile certified Open Source OSGi Enterprise Server

Visit JOnAS

JOnAS is an open source application server developed by Bull and OW2 under the LGPL license. It addresses the need for a standards-based runtime for Java EE applications, built on an OSGi services architecture that supports dynamically adaptable deployments. The project has been in development since 1998 and is used in production environments.

JOnAS 5.3 is certified for the Java EE 6 Web Profile and includes the EasyBeans EJB3 container, a pluggable module with dynamic reloading. It provides clustering mechanisms for scalability and high availability, along with management features for administrators. Integration options include Web Services, Java EE Connectors, LDAP access, IIOP, and a WebSphere MQ connector. The OW2 JASMINe project supplies tools for creating, deploying, and monitoring clusters. The platform also embeds Apache Camel for ESB functionality and integrates the Drools Rules Engine, and it can incorporate existing OSGi and iPOJO components. IDE plugins are available for development.

JOnAS targets enterprise application deployment and integration scenarios, including service-oriented architectures alongside other OW2 projects such as Bonita, Orchestra, and eXo Platform. It is distributed as open source software, with professional support available from Bull.
