Ubuntu

Enterprise open source operating system published by Canonical

Visit Ubuntu

Ubuntu is a Linux-based operating system distributed free of charge for servers, desktops, cloud instances and IoT devices. It addresses the need for a single platform that scales from embedded devices and workstations to data centers and public cloud, with predictable releases every six months and long-term support (LTS) releases every two years. Canonical, the publisher of Ubuntu, offers security maintenance, support, consulting and managed services around the platform.

The platform includes Ubuntu Core for embedded and IoT devices, with strict confinement, full disk encryption, secure boot, over-the-air updates and Landscape fleet management, alongside snaps, Snapd, Snapcraft and Ubuntu-image tooling. Desktop and server editions support Active Directory and LDAP integration, full disk encryption, WSL and Multipass, and local Kubernetes. Ubuntu Pro adds security and compliance features such as Kernel Livepatch, FIPS 140-2 cryptographic modules, DISA/STIG hardening, CIS profiles and extended security maintenance. Canonical also provides managed infrastructure services covering private cloud, AI infrastructure and telco cloud, with 24/7 monitoring and support.

Ubuntu is available as a free download for individuals and organizations, with a 30-day free trial for Ubuntu Pro. Canonical sells support, consulting and managed services on a commercial basis, with no mandatory subscriptions for Ubuntu itself.
