Apache Grails Framework

A powerful Groovy-based web application framework for the JVM built on Spring Boot.

Visit Apache Grails Framework

Apache Grails is an open source web application framework for the JVM, written in Groovy and built on Spring Boot. It addresses the complexity of building web applications by using convention-over-configuration, sensible defaults, and opinionated APIs, while integrating with Java, the JVM, and existing Java EE containers.

The framework includes GORM for data access across relational and non-relational databases, with implementations for Hibernate (SQL), MongoDB, Cassandra, and Neo4j. It supports building REST APIs and JavaScript frontends through application profiles for React and Angular. Additional capabilities include GSP, JSON Views, and Markup Views for generating HTML, JSON, and XML; asynchronous features such as Promises, a unified event model, and RxJava; domain-specific languages for validation, querying, and markup rendering; and a plugin system for extending the framework. IDE support is available for IntelliJ IDEA, Eclipse, Sublime, and Textmate.

Apache Grails is distributed under the Apache License 2 and is supported by the Apache Software Foundation and the Grails community.
