Apache Storm

Distributed real-time computation system for processing unbounded data streams

Visit Apache Storm

Apache Storm is a free and open source distributed realtime computation system for reliably processing unbounded streams of data. It addresses the need for continuous, fault-tolerant stream processing in the way Hadoop is used for batch processing, supporting use cases such as realtime analytics, online machine learning, continuous computation, distributed RPC, and ETL. A topology consumes streams and processes them through stages that can repartition data as needed.

Storm provides a simple API usable with any programming language, and is designed to be scalable, fault tolerant, and straightforward to deploy and operate. It ships with integrations for Apache Kafka (storm-kafka-client), HDFS (storm-hdfs), JDBC databases (storm-jdbc), JMS (storm-jms), and Redis (storm-redis), while its spout abstraction supports connecting additional queueing systems. Parallelization, partitioning, and retries on failure are handled by the system.

Apache Storm is released as free and open source software under the Apache Software Foundation, with documentation available for current and older versions.
