Visit PlayCanvas

PlayCanvas is an open source WebGL/WebGPU game engine for building 2D games, 3D graphics simulations and browser-based experiences in JavaScript. It runs on standards-compliant HTML5 across major browsers and devices, and is published on GitHub under the MIT license with TypeScript definitions. The PlayCanvas Editor provides a visual workflow for assembling scenes, while SuperSplat serves as a Gaussian splat editor for working with 3D Gaussian Splatting captures.

The engine offers a dual WebGL2 and WebGPU backend with compute shaders, WGSL and GLSL shader support, physically based rendering, post effects, glTF 2.0 loading, texture and mesh compression, clustered lighting, GPU skinning, particle effects, rigid body physics via ammo.js, WebXR, positional audio and asset streaming. It integrates with React through PlayCanvas React and supports Web Components. SuperSplat adds Gaussian splat editing with WebGPU rendering, streaming, LOD controls, color grading and a publishing API, alongside splat-transform and Vibe Code Splat Apps.

PlayCanvas is aimed at developers building browser-based games and 3D applications, from individuals to teams. The Editor is available on a free plan with unlimited public projects, free app hosting and REST API access; paid Personal and Organization editions add unlimited private projects, more storage and team management, with Organization priced per seat. Trials of the paid plans are available on request.
