Sandbox Game Maker is a free, open source standalone 3D game creation program based on the cube 2 engine. It is designed to let kids and adults build video games, worlds, levels, adventures and quests, including cooperatively, with editing performed in game rather than through a separate build step.
The program includes several game modes, including Water Gun Wars, FPS Creator, sidescroller, kartmode and RPG Maker, along with custom maps covering quests, mazes and other scenarios. It supports height map editing for mountains and caves, imports md2, md3, md5, iqm, smd and obj model formats, and accepts common sound formats. Cooperative editing is available over the Internet or LAN, and the open source engine code can be extended. Code project files are provided for Visual Studio, Code::Blocks, Linux makefiles and Xcode.
