Wings 3D

A polygon modeler.

Visit Wings 3D

Wings 3D is a subdivision polygon modeler written in Erlang, developed since 2001 and maintained with community help. It is designed for building and editing polygonal meshes, using a Winged Edge Data Structure to store adjacency relationships between edges, faces, and vertices. The application does not support animation.

The toolset includes standard mesh operations such as Move, Scale, Rotate, Extrude, Bevel, Bridge, Cut, and Weld, alongside advanced tools including Sweep, Plane Cut, Circularise, Intersect, Bend, Shear, and Inset. It also provides magnets and magnet masking, virtual mirror for symmetrical modeling, tweak and sculpt tools, edge loop and edge ring selection and navigation, and smooth preview. The interface uses context-sensitive right-click menus, a configurable interface and hotkeys, and an Info Line that displays command descriptions and variations. Wings 3D includes lights, materials, vertex colors, and a built-in AutoUV facility for cutting and unfolding model surfaces for texturing, with export to common 3D file formats such as .obj. The interface is available in multiple languages.

Wings 3D is open source and free for both personal and commercial projects.
