SolveSpace
Free open-source parametric 2D/3D CAD tool
SolveSpace is a free, open-source parametric 2D/3D CAD application for modeling parts, designing mechanisms, and preparing data for manufacturing. It lets users sketch sections with lines, arcs, splines, and text, then apply geometric constraints and dimensions to drive the geometry. Solids are built through extrude, lathe, and helix operations with Boolean combinations, and parametric assemblies propagate changes from parts automatically.
Core capabilities include a constraint solver for simulating planar and spatial linkages with pin, ball, or slide joints; measurements and interference checks; and export to formats such as DXF, PDF, SVG, STEP, STL, OBJ, and G-code for 3D printing, CAM, waterjet, and laser cutting. Sketching supports tangent arcs, trims, snap grids, background image tracing, and arithmetic expressions in dimensions with metric or inch units. A web version is available alongside desktop downloads.
SolveSpace targets mechanical designers, makers, and engineers working on 2D parts, 3D-printed components, mechanism design, and CAM preparation. It is released under the GPLv3 license.
