SAMA

Next-generation open source chat server

Visit SAMA

SAMA is an open source chat server for adding real-time messaging to mobile and web applications. It provides private and group chats, rich media messages, typing, sent and read statuses, file attachments, and a users history API, with end-to-end encryption and clustering support for larger loads.

Its feature set covers user authorization, profile editing, user search, block lists, multi-device support with online/offline message delivery, server-side last activity tracking, and push notifications through APNS, FCM and web push. The stack includes a clustering-supported backend, a frontend for conversations, an admin dashboard, and an API. Custom branding of the server and client is available on request.

SAMA is aimed at developers and organizations embedding chat into their own products. It is offered under a free plan with all chat and calling features, full API access, E2EE, community support and a GPL-3.0 code license. An Enterprise edition adds custom configuration, dedicated support, a commercial code license, an XMPP bridge add-on, and premium support with SLA-backed response times.
