Sails.js

The MVC framework for Node.js

Visit Sails.js

Sails.js is a free, open-source MVC framework for Node.js that helps developers build data-driven APIs and realtime applications. It follows a convention-over-configuration approach, using Express for HTTP handling and socket.io for WebSocket support, so the same routes and policies work across both HTTP and WebSocket connections. The framework is designed to support realtime features such as chat and works with any front-end, including Angular, React, iOS, Android, and custom hardware.

Sails bundles the Waterline ORM for database-agnostic data access, with official adapters for MySQL, MongoDB, PostgreSQL, Redis, and local disk, plus community adapters. Its blueprints auto-generate REST APIs with search, pagination, sorting, filtering, and CRUD operations. Additional capabilities include declarative security policies for role-based access control, a Grunt-based asset pipeline with LESS, SASS, and other preprocessors, and support for cross-database associations. The framework is MIT-licensed and free to use; commercial support is available through paid plans for teams, with options for individual developers, larger teams, and custom enterprise arrangements.
