fish shell

A smart and user-friendly command line shell

Visit fish shell

fish is a command line shell for Linux, macOS, BSD and Windows that aims to work out of the box with features such as tab completions, syntax highlighting, and command suggestions drawn from history and completions as you type. It also supports abbreviations, 24-bit true color, and a scripting syntax described as simple and consistent.

Configuration can be done through a web page, where colors can be set and functions, variables, and history viewed, or directly in the terminal. fish is available through package managers on Linux, macOS, and BSD, as well as via Cygwin, Windows Subsystem for Linux, and MSYS2; on macOS it can also be installed as an app or installer. Source tarballs and a Git repository are provided for building from source, with development hosted on GitHub. Support channels include a Matrix channel, a mailing list, Stack Exchange, and GitHub issues.
