Geany

The Flyweight IDE

Visit Geany

Geany is a lightweight, cross-platform programmer's text editor and IDE for Linux, Windows and macOS. It aims to provide a GUI editor with IDE-like features without a heavy footprint, supporting more than 50 programming languages out of the box, including C, Java, PHP, HTML, JavaScript, Python and Perl, as well as filetypes such as ini-style config files, Diff output and SQL files. The interface is translated into over 40 languages.

Customization options include color themes and the ability to add new filetypes, alongside a range of settings for adjusting the editor to individual preferences. A plugin system extends functionality, with plugins such as VCS Plugin (Git, SVN, ...), SpellCheck, Project Organizer and Translation Helper, and a Plugin API for developers adding their own. Geany is released under the GPL v2 license.
