Hyper

A terminal built on web technologies

Visit Hyper

Hyper is a terminal emulator built on open web standards, designed to give command-line users a fast and stable interface that can be extended through a public API. It is available for macOS, Windows, and Linux, with installers provided for several platforms.

Configuration is handled through a `.hyper.js` file, where users can set fonts, colors, cursor behavior, shell paths, environment variables, window size, scrollback, and keymaps. Extensions are distributed as Node.js modules on npm and loaded through the `plugins` array. The extension API exposes hooks for the Electron app and renderer processes, including `onApp`, `onWindow`, `decorateConfig`, `decorateEnv`, `decorateMenu`, `middleware`, reducers, and component decoration methods such as `decorateTerm` and `decorateTabs`. Plugins can be hot-reloaded without restarting the application.

Hyper is aimed at developers and command-line users who want a customizable terminal, as well as extension authors working with React and Redux. The project is open source and distributed as free downloads; no paid editions, trials, or usage-based pricing are described.
