Bluefish is an open source code and text editor for programmers and web developers, released under the GNU GPL licence. It handles writing websites, scripts, and programming code across many programming and markup languages, and runs on Linux, Mac OSX, Windows, FreeBSD and OpenBSD.

Features include a multiple document interface with project support, remote file handling over FTP, SFTP, HTTP, HTTPS, WebDAV and CIFS, and advanced search and replace with Perl Compatible regular expressions and sub-pattern replacing. It offers snippets, integration with external programs and filters, code block folding, auto-completion and auto-tag-closing, an HTML toolbar and image insert dialog, ZenCoding/Emmet support, bookmarks, unlimited undo/redo, auto-recovery, and an inline spell checker. Language definition files cover languages including HTML, CSS, JavaScript, PHP, Python, Java, Perl, Ruby, SQL, and Shell.

Bluefish is aimed at developers working across multiple projects and languages, from web work to scripting.
