Scoop
The command-line installer for Windows
Scoop is a command-line package installer for Windows that installs programs from a PowerShell terminal without permission popups or GUI wizards. It keeps packages isolated in a single folder, avoids PATH pollution, and handles dependencies and setup steps automatically so installed tools work without manual configuration.
Packages are defined as JSON manifests stored in Git repositories called buckets, which can be searched locally or across GitHub. Scoop creates shims for terminal applications and Start menu shortcuts for graphical applications, and it can generate new package manifests from a download URL. It runs on PowerShell 5.1 or later and is installed with a single command.
Scoop is aimed at Windows users who manage software from the terminal. It is free and open source, with no paid editions or usage-based plans mentioned.
