The Open Source CAD System For Everyone
QCAD is a free, open source 2D CAD application for Windows, macOS and Linux, released under the GPLv3 license. It is used to create technical drawings such as building and interior plans, mechanical parts, schematics and diagrams. The application is designed around modularity, extensibility and portability, with an interface intended to be usable without prior CAD experience.
The toolset includes layers, blocks, over 40 construction tools and over 20 modification tools, covering points, lines, arcs, circles, ellipses, splines, polylines, texts, dimensions, hatches and fills. It supports metrical and imperial units, DXF and DWG input and output across many format versions, PDF and SVG import and export, bitmap handling, object snaps, measuring tools, printing to scale and multi-page printing. A part library with over 4800 CAD parts is included, along with an ECMAScript (JavaScript) scripting interface and command line tools such as dwg2pdf, dwg2svg and dwg2bmp. QCAD/CAM adds G-Code export and nesting.
QCAD is aimed at users producing 2D technical drawings, from those without CAD experience onward. It is available as a free, open source application, with a QCAD Community Edition and a QCAD Professional edition that includes additional features.
