Postgres.app installs a PostgreSQL server on a Mac with default settings of host localhost, port 5432, user set to the system user name, database matching the user, no password, and connection URL postgresql://localhost. It ships with psql and other command line tools, and the documentation lists graphical clients such as pgAdmin 4 and Postico. Connection examples are provided for PHP, Go, GORM, Python (psycopg2, Django, Flask, SQLAlchemy), Ruby (pg gem, Rails, Sinatra, ActiveRecord, DataMapper, Sequel), Java (JDBC), C (libpq), and Swift.
