OrcaQ

The open source next gen database client

Visit OrcaQ

OrcaQ is an open-source database client, SQL editor, and SQL runner that runs in the browser, terminal, Docker, and as native macOS and Linux apps. It brings connection management, query editing, schema exploration, and release review into a single workspace, with local-first handling of credentials and connection details.

PostgreSQL is supported natively, with beta connectors for MySQL, MariaDB, SQLite, OracleDB, Redis, Cloudflare D1, and Turso. Features include named workspaces, SSH tunnels and SSL configuration, environment tags with Strict Mode confirmation for mutations, a schema explorer with DDL previews, a file explorer for SQL scripts, a quick query browser with inline editing and filtering, a raw SQL editor with syntax highlighting, autocomplete, and EXPLAIN analysis, an interactive ERD, role and permission management, instance insights, a schema diff tool with migration script generation, and backup and restore integration. The AI Orca Agent can query, visualize, and analyze data using GPT-4, Claude, or Gemini.

OrcaQ is aimed at developers and database practitioners working across local, staging, and production environments. It is available as a native desktop app for macOS and Linux, a web version, an NPX terminal version requiring Node.js 18+, and a Docker image for self-hosting. The project is open source and distributed through GitHub.
