Observium

Network monitoring with intuition

Visit Observium

Observium is a network monitoring and management platform that automatically discovers network devices and services, collects performance metrics, and generates alerts when problems are detected. It provides a web-based interface for viewing real-time and historical network status and performance data, helping administrators identify and resolve issues. The platform supports a wide range of device types, platforms, and operating systems, including Cisco, Windows, Linux, HP, Juniper, Dell, FreeBSD, Brocade, Netscaler, and NetApp.

Key capabilities include full autodiscovery of supported devices and metrics, network mapping through discovery protocols, rule-based automatic grouping, and threshold, state, and syslog alerting. Observium offers traffic accounting, BFD, IP SLA, and class-based QoS metrics, along with Spanning Tree and Pseudowire support and EIGRP, OSPF, and BGP routing protocol monitoring. It includes a RESTful API and supports integration with third-party tools such as collectd, munin, smokeping, and RANCID, with supplied application collectors for Apache, BIND, DRBD, Memcached, MySQL, NFS, and others.

Observium is available in Community, Professional, and Enterprise editions. Community is distributed under the QPL Open Source license and is suited to home labs, evaluation, or small non-critical deployments. Professional and Enterprise are subscription-based, with Enterprise including additional support and priority consideration for new features. Professional subscriptions are available free of charge to registered charities and Open Source projects.
