Libervia (formerly Salut à Toi)
Decentralized, multi-frontend communication tool
Libervia, formerly known as Salut à Toi, is a decentralized communication tool built on the XMPP protocol. It brings together messaging, calls, forums, email, and development tools in a single system, addressing the need to consolidate communication and collaboration without relying on a centralized service.
The platform includes audio and video calling with direct calls, small-group mesh calls (MUJI), and larger conferences using an SFU based on Galène, along with remote desktop control. An Email Gateway brings email into an XMPP client and converts mailing lists into XMPP forums. Libervia also provides a decentralized code Forge with repository browsing, commit viewing, and XMPP-based ticket management, as well as thread support and Data Policy indicators for service data handling. It offers multiple frontends, including a Web frontend, and is configured through TOML files with validation and type hints.
Libervia is aimed at users and administrators seeking a self-hosted, XMPP-based communication suite with integrated collaboration features. It is distributed as libre software and can be installed through Python packaging tools such as uv, with community packages available for Debian, Arch Linux, and NixOS.
