IOMETE

IOMETE is a self-hosted data lakehouse platform designed for organizations that want to keep data and infrastructure under their own control. It addresses concerns around data ownership, privacy, vendor lock-in, and the cost of public-cloud SaaS platforms by running on-premises, in private or public cloud, or in hybrid environments. The platform is Kubernetes-native and supports deployment on any Kubernetes distribution, including Amazon EKS, Azure AKS, Google GKE, OpenShift, and VMware Tanzu, with capabilities for multi-cluster management, auto-scaling, high availability, and air-gapped environments.

Core capabilities include data lakehouses, a data catalog with metadata and lineage, a SQL editor with autocompletion and query history, Spark jobs and applications, ML notebooks via Jupyter, Spark Connect, an orchestration engine, and real-time stream processing from sources such as Apache Kafka, Amazon Kinesis, and Apache Pulsar. Data governance features include access controls at the table, row, column, user, group, team, and department level, data masking, tagging, and data domains. BI tools can connect through a SQL endpoint.

IOMETE is aimed at enterprise data teams requiring customization and control over their data platform. It is packaged in three tiers: a Free tier with core features and community support, an Enterprise tier adding data masking, role-level security, auditing, and enterprise support, and a Business Critical tier adding multi-region deployment and dedicated engineers. Enterprise and Business Critical tiers are licensed per vCPU, while the Free tier has no license cost.
