MariaDB is an enterprise open source database platform covering transactional, analytical, JSON, vector and AI workloads, with MySQL and Oracle compatibility. It addresses the need to run and scale data-intensive applications across public, private, hybrid and multicloud environments, whether self-managed or fully managed.
The MariaDB Enterprise Platform comprises Enterprise Server, MaxScale database proxy, Enterprise Cluster (Galera), ColumnStore, connectors, tools, and the Enterprise Kubernetes Operator and Enterprise Manager for deployment automation and monitoring. MariaDB Cloud offers provisioned and serverless architectures on AWS, GCP and Azure. AI features include AI RAG, MCP Server, Exa for columnar analytics, and In-Memory Cache (GridGain). Scalability features include compression, partitioning, parallel query, read replicas, sharding, and read-write splitting with multimaster clustering. Security controls include encryption at rest and in transit, access control, and compliance with ISO/IEC 27001:2022, SOC 2 Type II, HIPAA and GDPR.
MariaDB serves organizations of varying sizes, from startups to global companies. MariaDB Cloud is packaged in three tiers — Foundation, Power and PowerPlus — with usage-based hourly pricing on Power and PowerPlus, and a free Foundation tier. A Community Server edition is available for non-production applications. Self-managed and services options are also offered.
