Horde

Groupware that runs anywhere, built on tools you can trust.

Visit Horde

Horde is a free, open source groupware suite that provides webmail, calendar, contacts, tasks, notes, and related collaboration tools in a browser-based interface. It is designed for self-hosting and avoids vendor lock-in, with the project maintained by its community. The suite also includes a PHP library ecosystem that developers can reuse in their own projects.

The suite is built from independent applications installed via Composer and available through Packagist. Key components include IMP for IMAP/POP3 webmail, Ingo for email filtering, Kronolith for calendars, Turba for contacts, Nag for tasks, Mnemo for notes, Gollem for file management, and Hermes for time tracking. It supports CalDAV, CardDAV, and ActiveSync synchronization, and includes developer tools such as the Whups ticket tracker and the Wicked wiki. The project is licensed under LGPL/GPL and is available as a demo before installation.

Horde is intended for organizations and individuals who want to self-host their own collaboration tools, as well as developers building on its PHP libraries. The project is community-maintained and free and open source, with no paid enterprise tier; professional support is available through a third-party sponsor.
