Zotero

Your personal research assistant

Visit Zotero

Zotero is a free, open-source research tool for collecting, organizing, annotating, citing, and sharing sources. It captures bibliographic information from web pages, articles, preprints, news stories, and library records, then keeps those items, notes, and files together in a personal library. It is available for Mac, Windows, Linux, iOS, and Android, with optional synchronization across devices and browser access to synced data.

Items can be sorted into collections, tagged with keywords, and surfaced through saved searches that update as new material is added. Zotero creates references and bibliographies for text editors and works directly inside Word, LibreOffice, and Google Docs, with support for more than 9,000 citation styles. Libraries can be shared with colleagues or students for co-writing, distributing course materials, or building a collaborative bibliography. ZoteroBib is offered separately for creating a quick bibliography. Zotero is free to download and use, and library sharing is available at no cost.
