Hjarni is a Markdown knowledge base with a built-in MCP server, designed to give connected AI assistants persistent access to your notes. Notes are organized in folders with tags and wiki-links, and assistants such as ChatGPT and Claude can search, read, create and update them across conversations, so project context, decisions and preferences do not need to be re-explained in every chat.
Core capabilities include per-folder AI instructions, note history with version restore, Markdown export, and an API. It connects through the ChatGPT and Claude directories, and also works with Cursor, Claude Code, Windsurf, Cline, Copilot and other MCP clients. Apps are available for iPhone, iPad, Mac and Android, alongside a web app and a Chrome web clipper. Notes are hosted in the EU, encrypted in transit and at rest, with daily offsite backups and no training on note content.
Hjarni is aimed at developers, researchers, founders, writers and teams who want shared context across AI tools. It is packaged as a free plan with up to 25 notes and full MCP and API access, a Pro plan with unlimited notes and attachments, and a per-seat Teams plan with shared knowledge and member management. AI subscriptions are separate.
