Hibernate

Hibernate: Everything data. More than an ORM, discover the Hibernate galaxy.

Visit Hibernate

Hibernate is a family of Java projects covering persistence, search, validation, and data access. Hibernate ORM maps relational data to Java objects, letting programs work with database content in a natural, type-safe form and synchronize in-memory changes with the database under ACID transaction semantics. It implements Jakarta Persistence alongside its own API and supports temporal data and audit logging.

The suite includes Hibernate Search for full-text search backed by Apache Lucene, Elasticsearch, or OpenSearch; Hibernate Validator for annotation-based constraints implementing Jakarta Validation; Hibernate Reactive for reactive persistence with Vert.x; and Data Repositories, a programming model based on Jakarta Data. Hibernate ORM offers the Hibernate Query Language with compile-time validation through Hibernate Processor, two-level caching, and configurable fetching and locking strategies. It runs on Java SE and Jakarta EE environments including Quarkus, WildFly, and Spring Boot, with compatibility across many relational databases plus a MongoDB extension.

The projects are released under the Apache Software License v2 and are supported across a range of Java, Jakarta Persistence, Jakarta Data, and Jakarta EE versions. Releases follow stable, development, and limited-support series, with long-term support and end-of-life policies documented for maintenance planning.
