Decap CMS

Open source content management for your Git workflow

Visit Decap CMS

Decap CMS is an open-source, self-hosted content management system for Git-backed static and Jamstack sites. Content is stored in your own Git repository with version history and branch workflows, and the entire CMS is configured through a single config.yml file. It works with static site generators including Hugo, Next.js, Gatsby, and Jekyll.

The CMS provides a friendly editor UI with real-time preview, rich text and markdown editing, an editorial workflow with draft, review, and publish statuses, and flexible content modeling with collections, nested structures, relation fields, and slug behavior. It supports multiple Git backends (GitHub, GitLab, Gitea, Bitbucket, Azure, Git Gateway), backend-specific authentication flows, a built-in media library with integrations like Cloudinary and Uploadcare, localization (i18n), deploy previews, and custom widgets and plugins. Local development is supported via decap-server. An optional paid extension, Decap Turbo, adds hosted authentication with roles and permissions, a database proxy for faster performance on large collections, rate-limit shielding, an S3-compatible media library, deploy notifications, an activity log, and encrypted site variables.

Decap CMS is MIT-licensed and free, suited for developers, editors, teams, and agencies wanting a Git-native workflow with ownership over content. Decap Turbo is packaged in plans, with custom roles, priority support, and Enterprise options noted as add-ons or included at higher tiers.
