CMS Made Simple is an open source content management system built with PHP and the Smarty templating engine, keeping content, functionality and templates separated. It provides a Content Manager for creating and editing pages in real time, a News module for article-based content, a File Manager for uploads and images, frontend and backend search, and a permissions-based backend users manager. The system is designed to support both day-to-day site maintenance and more advanced applications.
Its capabilities include the Smarty templating engine, a module API, User Defined Tags for custom PHP functions, file or database templates with template inheritance, caching controls, and a granular permissions system. A Module Manager installs community modules, and the project also offers core modules, plugins, themes, API documentation and module documentation. It is available for download under the GPL license for personal and commercial projects, with third-party modules subject to their own licenses.
