CircuitMaker
The Community for Creative Electronics
CircuitMaker is a free schematic and PCB design tool built by Altium for the Open Source Hardware community. It combines a desktop design editor with a community workspace where projects can be shared, forked, and worked on with others, addressing the need for capable design software without layer-count or board-area restrictions.
The editor includes a multi-sheet schematic editor with hierarchical design blocks, interactive push-and-shove routing modes, the Situs topological autorouter, Native 3D visualization, and DRC/DFM-validated outputs such as Gerber, NC Drill, and ODB++. Component placement draws on a community library backed by the Octopart database, with support for custom parts. Collaboration and project management are supported through the Altium 365 platform, and manufacturing output can be routed to partner fabrication services.
CircuitMaker is aimed at open source designers, makers, hobbyists, students, and professionals. It is provided free to use, with no stated commercial clause restrictions on designs.
