E-book management

Visit calibre

Calibre is a free, open-source desktop application for managing an e-book collection. It organises libraries through covers, titles, tags, authors, publishers and custom metadata, and provides advanced search and sorting across those fields. Metadata can be downloaded for an e-book or edited and created in existing or new fields.

The software converts between dozens of e-book file formats, automatically selecting the format best suited to a connected device, and can adjust styles, tables of contents, punctuation and margins during conversion. It includes a built-in e-book viewer supporting major formats with features such as table of contents, highlighting, bookmarks, read aloud, search and multi-page view, plus an editor for EPUB and Kindle files. Device transfer works over cable or wirelessly, and a Content server allows library access through a browser. News and magazines can be downloaded from web sources or RSS feeds, and a plugin explorer provides additional extensions.

Calibre runs on PC, laptop and tablet platforms and can be carried on a USB stick. It is distributed as free, open-source software with no paid editions or seat-based plans indicated.
