TextMate

Text editor for macOS

Visit TextMate

TextMate is an open source, customizable text editor for macOS that supports a wide range of programming languages. It addresses editing tasks such as making several changes at once, searching across files, and working with code that mixes languages or formatting preferences within a single project.

Its features include multiple carets, file search with match extraction and replacement preview, and version control integration covering diffs, file and line change indicators, and partial commits across major systems. Scoped settings let key shortcuts and preferences follow scope selectors, while commands can be written in any language that works with stdin, stdout, and environment variables, with WebKit and a Mac-native dialog framework for interfaces. Snippets with placeholders and transformations, macros for saved or scratch replay, and bundles for languages, markup systems, and workflows extend the editor. Additional capabilities include clipboard history, custom themes, live HTML/Markdown preview, foldable code blocks, and indented soft wrap.

TextMate 2.0 is available for download and requires macOS 10.12 or later.
