Visit Standard Notes

Standard Notes is an end-to-end encrypted notes application for storing and organizing notes, files, and other content across devices. It replaces the need for multiple tools by providing a single place to capture and organize content, with data encrypted using XChaCha20-Poly1305 encryption.

Notes can be created in several types, including plain text, rich text, markdown, tasks and todos, code, and spreadsheets, with a Super note type for advanced editing. Features include nested folders built from tags, Smart Views for custom queries, note pinning, archiving, trash recovery, password protection per note, passcode and biometric app locking, two-factor authentication, an authenticator for other services, themes, long-term revision history, nightly encrypted email backups, and full data import and export. The app runs on iOS, Android, web browsers, macOS, Windows, and Linux. Self-hosting is supported through an automated Docker setup for the backend server infrastructure, with the web app self-hostable separately.

Standard Notes is packaged as a free Standard plan with end-to-end encryption, unlimited device sync, plain text notes, offline access, tags, and two-factor authentication. Paid editions are Productivity, which adds Super notes, spreadsheets, Daily Notebooks, folders, the Web Clipper, and one-year revision history, and Professional, which adds 100GB encrypted file storage, unlimited revision history, and subscription sharing for up to five accounts. There is no trial for paid features; refund windows apply after purchase.
