RPG Maker is a series of game creation engines from Gotcha Gotcha Games and KADOKAWA for building RPGs and visual novels without writing code. The tools cover map editing, event systems, character generation, and plugins, letting users design environments, define characters and battles, and test projects directly from the editor.

Core features include a Map Editor with layering, a Character Generator for customizing hair, eyes, clothes, and accessories, a Database for stats, equipment, enemies, and battle states, and an Event System for messages, progression, and battles through a menu interface. Plugins extend functionality beyond events, and Effekseer particle effects support animations. RPG Maker MV adds multiplatform distribution including macOS, Android, and iOS; RPG Maker MZ adds HD resolution, side-view battles, mouse and touchpad support, and built-in particle support. Games can be published as freeware or commercial titles without an additional license.

The series targets beginners through experienced developers, with editions ranging from RPG Maker 2003 and VX to VX Ace, MV, and MZ, alongside Visual Novel Maker and Game Character Hub. Each edition is sold as a one-time purchase, with DLC asset packs available separately through a marketplace.
