SageMath

Free and open-source mathematical software system

Visit SageMath

SageMath is a free, open-source mathematics software system released under the GPL. It combines existing open-source packages — including NumPy, SciPy, matplotlib, Sympy, Maxima, GAP, FLINT and R — and exposes them through a common Python-based language, along with interfaces and wrappers for individual components.

The system offers interactive plots and graphics, a quickstart and tutorial path, and extensive documentation including a reference manual, constructions guide and library. It runs online through SageMathCell and CoCalc, and can be installed locally on macOS, Linux and Windows (via Windows Subsystem for Linux), with binaries available from conda-forge and source available from GitHub. Support resources include mailing lists, forums, chat on Zulup, video tutorials and a FAQ.

SageMath is aimed at users working across mathematics, research and education, from undergraduates to researchers. It is free and open-source, with no paid editions or seat-based plans; development is community-driven through its GitHub repository, and donations are accepted as one-time or recurring contributions.
