Julia

The Julia Programming Language

Visit Julia

Julia is a free, open-source programming language for technical computing, released under the MIT license. It addresses the challenge of writing fast numerical and scientific code without switching between languages, compiling to efficient native code via LLVM while remaining dynamically typed and interactive. The project aims to make scalable technical computing accessible to scientists, researchers, and businesses.

Julia uses multiple dispatch as its core paradigm and includes asynchronous I/O, metaprogramming, debugging, logging, profiling, a package manager, and the ability to build binaries. It supports multi-threading, GPU computing, and distributed computing, with foreign function interfaces for C, Fortran, C++, Python, R, Java, Mathematica, and Matlab. The ecosystem includes packages for data science (DataFrames.jl, CSV.jl), machine learning (MLJ.jl, Flux.jl, Lux.jl, Turing.jl), scientific computing (DifferentialEquations.jl, JuMP.jl), and visualization (Makie.jl, Plots.jl), along with web and native UI libraries such as Dash.jl, Genie.jl, and Gtk4.jl.

Julia is intended for scientists, researchers, developers, and businesses working on numerical, scientific, and data-intensive tasks. It is available as a free, open-source download under the MIT license.
