Rudder is an infrastructure security automation platform for managing and securing IT systems on-premises or in the cloud across Linux and Windows environments. It addresses the need to maintain consistent security configurations, keep systems patched, and demonstrate compliance with internal policies and industry benchmarks, while providing real-time visibility into system posture.
The platform includes security configuration management with a configuration builder, declarative configurations, drift management, and progressive rollout; patch and vulnerability management with CVE assessment, patch campaigns, micropatching, and patch reports; and policy and benchmark compliance with pre-defined benchmarks, custom security policies, and OpenSCAP audits. It features live dashboards, a Rudder Score, dynamic groups, multiplatform agents, and an API-based design. Integrations include Centreon, Consul, ELK stack, GLPI, Vault, Zabbix, Ansible AWX, iTop, and Rundeck.
Rudder is developed by Normation and is available as an open source core (Rudder Core) that is free to use. Paid editions include Rudder Enterprise, which includes security configuration management plus a choice of either patch and vulnerability management or policy and benchmark compliance, and Rudder Corporate Security Suite, which includes all solutions. Both editions are licensed on an annual per-node basis and offer a free trial.
