Visit QST

QST is a self-hosted, open source assessment platform for creating and delivering quizzes, exams, surveys, and assignments. By running on your own Windows, Linux, or macOS hardware, it keeps assessment content and student data under your control while supporting multi-tenant deployments with unlimited organizations, classes, and users.

The platform includes a GradeBook with analytics, question banks, and import/export in formats such as QST XML, Word XML, Moodle XML, IMS QTI 1/2/3, and PDF. Question types cover multiple choice, matching, true/false, short answer, essay, surveys, and branch/skip-logic, along with a visual STEM equation editor supporting MathJax, TeX, LaTeX, MathML, and mhchem with auto-marking for math and chemistry formulas. Additional capabilities include a Memory feature that displays material once, candidate photo verification for proctored exams, bulk user and class uploads, multilingual and RTL interface support, and AI-assisted question creation and import.

QST is aimed at educational institutions, training organizations, certification bodies, and private companies seeking a self-hosted assessment system rather than a full LMS. It is released under GPLv2 with no licensing fees for commercial use, and a free account is available for testing and conversions.
