Instructure (Canvas LMS)

Canvas is a cloud-based learning management system from Instructure for K-12 schools, higher education institutions, and business and government organizations. It provides course delivery tools such as grading, messaging, gradebooks, blueprint courses for scaling curriculum, and reporting. Canvas integrates with 1000+ external tools and offers free mobile apps for students, teachers, and parents.

Canvas includes SpeedGrader for grading submissions and leaving comments, Message Students Who for targeted communication, and Gradebook for managing assignments and weightings. Blueprint courses let institutions scale curriculum and push updates centrally, while customizable feature settings adapt spaces to different user groups. Canvas Data provides raw event-level files for custom dashboards and data warehouse integration, and in-app reporting shows course activity and engagement trends. The platform also offers AI features through IgniteAI and Intelligent Insights, plus related products including Canvas Studio, Canvas Catalog, Mastery Connect, Mastery Item Bank, Mastery Assessments, Parchment, Impact by Instructure, LearnPlatform, and Canvas Career.

Canvas is available in three tiers, ranging from core LMS capabilities to expanded engagement tools and AI features. The platform is built in the cloud on open technology and supports accessibility standards, with a Trust Center covering security, compliance, availability, and privacy.
