CodeAI, formerly Code.org, is an education innovation nonprofit that provides free K–12 curriculum and tools covering computer science, AI science, and data science. It addresses the gap between students simply using technology and understanding how it works, offering teacher professional development and policy advocacy alongside classroom materials.
Its offerings include free, research-backed courses such as AI Foundations for grades 9–12, AI Discoveries for grades 6–8, and How AI Makes Decisions for grades 3–5. The platform also provides teacher resources, professional development tools, and policy advocacy work. Curriculum materials are open source under Creative Commons for non-commercial use, and the platform is designed with accessibility and student privacy in mind, complying with COPPA, FERPA, and GDPR.
CodeAI is built for K–12 students and teachers, as well as education advocates and policymakers. All courses, tools, and activities are free to use, with the nonprofit funded through donations rather than paid subscriptions or seat-based plans.
