OSMC
OSMC is a free and open source media center built for the people, by the people.
OSMC (Open Source Media Center) is a free and open source media player built on Linux. It solves the problem of playing media from local networks, attached storage, and the internet, providing a unified interface for accessing and managing personal media collections. The software is based on the Kodi project and Debian Linux, and is developed by volunteers.
OSMC includes an App Store that allows users to install additional functionality, such as a torrent client, web browser, or TV tuner, directly from the remote control. It supports all major media formats and a variety of streaming protocols, and can also serve files to other devices. The software is available for installation on multiple devices, and the flagship Vero V hardware is designed and manufactured by the OSMC team to provide an optimized experience with support for 4K, HDR, and HD audio.
OSMC is intended for users who want a simple, open source media center solution, from newcomers to those who wish to tinker with the underlying Debian system. The software itself is free and open source under GPL version 2, with no paid editions or subscription plans mentioned. Donations are accepted to support development and hosting costs. The Vero V hardware is sold separately through the OSMC store.
