OpenSSH
Premier connectivity tool for remote login with the SSH protocol
OpenSSH is a free SSH protocol suite that provides encryption for network services such as remote login and remote file transfers. It encrypts all traffic to prevent eavesdropping, connection hijacking, and related attacks, and offers secure tunneling capabilities, several authentication methods, and detailed configuration options.
The suite includes remote operation tools (ssh, scp, sftp), key management utilities (ssh-add, ssh-keysign, ssh-keyscan, ssh-keygen), and service-side components (sshd, sftp-server, ssh-agent). Features include strong cryptography (AES, ChaCha20, RSA, ECDSA, Ed25519), X11 forwarding, port forwarding, public key and one-time password authentication, Kerberos authentication (portable version), agent forwarding, SFTP client and server support, and optional data compression. It is developed by the OpenBSD Project and released under a BSD-style license.
OpenSSH is intended for securing remote access and network services across routers, appliances, operating systems, and other network devices. It is free to use for any purpose, including commercial use, with source code available for review and reuse.
