Metaplane is a data observability platform that monitors data warehouses, transformation tools, and BI platforms for anomalies, schema changes, and pipeline issues. It helps data teams detect silent data quality problems before they affect downstream reports and dashboards, and is now part of Datadog.
The platform includes monitoring and anomaly detection, column-level lineage and impact analysis, Data CI/CD checks in pull requests, schema change alerts, job monitoring, usage analytics, and alerting to Slack, Microsoft Teams, PagerDuty, Jira, email, API, and webhooks. It integrates with warehouses such as Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift, Databricks, and ClickHouse; transformation tools including dbt Core and Cloud and Airflow; and BI platforms such as Tableau, Looker, Power BI, Sigma, Mode, Metabase, and Hex. Machine learning models account for seasonality and trends when detecting anomalies, and suggested monitors help prioritize important tables.
Metaplane is aimed at data analysts, engineers, and data teams. It is packaged in Free, Pro, and Enterprise plans, with usage-based pricing that scales with the number of monitored objects and optional add-ons; a 14-day trial is available before choosing a plan. A Snowflake native app lets teams pay with existing Snowflake credits, and free standalone tools cover dbt alerting, dbt inspection, and schema change tracking.
