Manticore Search

Easy-to-use fast search database.

Visit Manticore Search

Manticore Search is an open-source search database written in C++ that combines full-text, typo-tolerant, vector, hybrid, and conversational search in a single engine. It addresses the need for fast, resource-efficient retrieval with real-time indexing and analytical queries, running on your own servers and scalable from a single server to distributed deployments. It is queryable over SQL or HTTP, and also supports JSON APIs and the MySQL protocol.

Key capabilities include fuzzy matching, faceting, filtering, query suggestions, stemming, lemmatization, synonyms, and custom ranking. Vector search uses KNN with the HNSW algorithm and supports cosine similarity, inner product, and squared L2 distance. Conversational search works with an LLM provider over vectorized data, returning answers with supporting source rows. It integrates with MySQL, Postgres, MSSQL, ODBC, XML, CSV, TSV, Logstash, Kibana, Grafana, Apache Superset, and ProxySQL, with client bindings for several programming languages. Row-wise and columnar storage are both supported, along with built-in authentication and fine-grained authorization.

Manticore Search is aimed at developers and DevOps teams building search, analytics, and recommendation features. It is published under OSI-approved open source licenses and is free to use, with professional services available for consulting, fine-tuning, and custom feature development.
