CrateDB

Real-time analytics database for live operational data

Visit CrateDB

CrateDB is a distributed SQL database for high-volume, high-cardinality data, including time-series, JSON, full-text, vector, geospatial, and structured data. It is designed for teams that need to query live operational data without waiting for ETL or batch synchronization, and it supports standard SQL with JOINs, aggregations, and window functions without pre-aggregation or schema redesign.

The database provides built-in replication and automatic failover, horizontal scale-out with automatic sharding, and real-time ingestion from IoT sensors, Kafka streams, and application logs. It connects through the PostgreSQL wire protocol, a REST HTTP endpoint, and native connectors for Kafka, Spark, dbt, and other tools. Full-text search is built on Lucene, and vector similarity search runs within the same SQL engine alongside time-series and analytical workloads. Integrations include Tableau, Power BI, Metabase, Grafana, Apache Superset, DBeaver, Apache Flink, Apache Spark, Debezium, MQTT, and AWS Lambda, among others.

CrateDB is aimed at teams working with industrial telemetry, AI operations, and application analytics. The core is available under the Apache 2.0 license for self-hosted deployment on-premises, at the edge, or in the cloud, and it can also be used as a managed service through CrateDB Cloud.
