ListenBrainz

Track, explore, visualize, and share the music you listen to.

Visit ListenBrainz

ListenBrainz is an open source service that records the music you listen to and provides insights into your listening habits. It stores a public, shareable listen history, offers personalized recommendations for discovering music, and lets you share your musical taste through visualizations. Listen data and text submitted by users are published under the Creative Commons Zero license, and the service is run by the non-profit MetaBrainz Foundation.

The platform draws song, album, and artist metadata from MusicBrainz, the open source music database. It provides a feed, dashboard, and explore view, along with an API for submitting and accessing listen data. MetaBrainz also publishes PostgreSQL data dumps of listen history for download, described as suitable for studying music consumption patterns and for training language models on music tasks. The website, code, and contributed data are open source, with repositories hosted on GitHub.

ListenBrainz is aimed at listeners who want to track and share their history, as well as developers building music tools and researchers working with listening datasets. The service is free, carries no advertising, and allows users to migrate their data out at any time. Personal use of the datasets is free, while commercial supporters are asked to contribute to fund their creation and maintenance.
