FHEM

GPL-licensed Perl server for home automation

Visit FHEM

FHEM is a GPL-licensed Perl server for household automation. It automates tasks such as switching lamps, shutters and heating, and logs events including temperature, humidity and power consumption. It runs as a server and can be controlled through web or smartphone frontends, telnet, or TCP/IP directly. A 24/7 server with a Perl interpreter and attached hardware such as CUL-, EnOcean- or Z-Wave-USB sticks is required to access actors and sensors.

FHEM supports many home automation protocols, audio/video devices, weather services and online calendars. It can automatically create devices and logs when data arrives from a new device, log events to files or a database with regexp filters, notify external programs or scripts on certain events, and run timed commands. Interfaces include simple text, JSON and XML over TCP/IP, SSL or HTTP. The modular architecture includes over 430 modules, with multiple frontend options. Supported protocols include HomeMatic, MAX!, KNX, Z-Wave, EnOcean, Philips Hue, FRITZ!DECT, X10, 1Wire, MQTT, Alexa, HomeKit and HomeBridge, among others.

FHEM is intended for users who want to run their own home automation server. It is available as a GPL v2 release, with Debian packages, tarballs, nightly versions and container images for Docker, Kubernetes and Podman. Installation is supported on Debian/Ubuntu/Raspbian, Unix/OSX, Windows and Fritz!BOX, with a Perl interpreter required.
