ESMira
Anonymous data collection tool for longitudinal studies with participants.
ESMira is an open-source application for running longitudinal studies such as experience sampling (ESM), ecological momentary assessment (EMA), and ambulatory assessment (AA). It supports data collection and communication with participants while keeping those interactions anonymous. The project is decentralized, so researchers can host their own instance rather than relying on a single central service.
The platform provides a web interface for study setup and administration, along with a participant-facing side for responding to study prompts. It includes statistics views for study data and server statistics, and links to a discussion forum and a step-by-step setup guide in a wiki. The source code is published on GitHub, and a demo server is available for researchers who want to try the software before deploying it.
ESMira is aimed at researchers and research groups conducting longitudinal or experience-sampling studies. It can be self-hosted on a server the researcher controls, and a hosted demo is offered for evaluation. The pages do not describe a free plan, trial period, or paid editions.
