Codag

Cut coding-agent costs by reducing large tool output before the agent reads it

Visit Codag

Codag is a developer tool that reduces the volume of tool output coding agents consume. It attaches to supported agents such as Claude Code and Codex with a single setup command, classifies tool results by kind, shortens large eligible outputs to the relevant lines, and keeps the omitted content retrievable locally. Model traffic continues to flow through a local proxy on the user's machine to their provider.

Setup installs a per-user local service and attaches detected agents; other tools are reported but not modified, and changes can be reversed. Results are classified by kind, with unrecognized output passing through untouched. Large eligible results such as logs, test and build output, search results, and file listings are reduced to signal lines, while source code, diffs, and configuration pass through unchanged. Omitted content is stored encrypted on the user's machine and can be retrieved by line range, JSON path, or group. Usage is tracked through commands such as codag status and codag savings, and the tool fails open to original output on timeouts or exhausted quotas.

Codag is packaged as pay-as-you-go with a free starter grant of credits and no card required, a Team plan with a monthly credit bundle, per-member usage attribution, and priority support, and an Enterprise edition with SSO, VPC peering, and custom agreements. Billing is usage-based on credits rather than seats, with different tools consuming credits at different rates.
