Betula

Self-hosted single-user federated bookmark manager with archival support.

Visit Betula

Betula is a free, self-hosted bookmark manager for a single user, designed for organizing bookmarks, maintaining a linklog, or building a personal web archive. It runs as a single binary with the collection stored in one SQLite file, and all configuration is handled through the web interface.

Bookmarks can include a title, an optional description formatted with Mycomarkup, and tags, and can be public or private. The software produces IndieWeb microformats and includes a bookmarklet, built-in documentation, and local and federated search. It supports the Fediverse: people can follow your Betula from Mastodon, Akkoma, Smithereen and similar platforms to receive new public bookmarks, with likes and reposts, and you can subscribe to other Betula servers. Archival copies of web pages can be saved. Additional capabilities include Miniflux integration, log servers integration, and import and export in Netscape Bookmark File, Pinboard JSON, and Raindrop CSV formats.

Betula is intended for a single user running their own instance. Installation is available through packages, pre-built binaries, containers, or building from source, with guidance for HTTPS and domain setup. The project is free software; no paid editions, trials, or seat-based plans are described.
