Apache Impala
Open source, native analytic database for open data and table formats.
Apache Impala is an open source, native analytic database for the Hadoop ecosystem. It provides low latency and high concurrency for BI and analytic queries, supporting open data formats including Iceberg and most cloud storage options. It is designed to scale linearly in multitenant environments while reusing the same file and data formats, metadata, security, and resource management frameworks as an existing Hadoop deployment, avoiding redundant infrastructure or data conversion and duplication.
Impala supports SQL and uses the same metadata and ODBC driver as Apache Hive, allowing existing Hive users to implement queries without reworking their implementation. It integrates with native Hadoop security and Kerberos for authentication, and with the Ranger module for authorization of users and applications. Impala is released under the Apache License.
